INTRODUCTION: 
Karibu birding! Andrew Majembe found this program ten years ago supported by Birdwatchers. Under the Birdlife role aim at conservation of Nature. Promoting awareness, appreciating and understanding of our bird species. 

Andrew Majembe», a trained wildlife and birding guide from college of African wildlife management (CAWM), Mweka. His professional skills is over several years of field experience. He has seen 997 bird species in Tanzania during those years. He identified his first bird 34 years ago when he was 13 and has had a passion for birding ever since. He would love to take you to some of favorite birding hotspots in the greater Zanzibar archipelago so you can enjoy the beauty of the country Tanzania and take home wonderful memories of birds you've never seen before. Choose on the type of birding safari experience (Half day or full day) you want to share with him!

Tanzania is known to have about total of 1,152 birds species of which 250 have been seen in Zanzibar archipelago and it’s surrounding areas including Pemba, Latham and Mafia Island. So the wealthy of birdlife on the doorstep of this island should therefore not go unnoticed or misunderstood, it is however the fact that the majority of the island residents are not aware of this diverse avian neighbors. Most of Zanzibari residents do not know the places to undertake birdwatching activities. On the other hand, the only birds they think to watch are House Crows, Chicken, Ducks and House Sparrows. 
* In fact there are some indigenous and Palearctic birds species which have adapted and survived the urbanization process all year around. Such birds including; Glossy Ibis, Crab Plover, Little Bittern, Eastern Green and Golden rumped Tinkerbird bird, Green Wood Hoopoe and Red-necked Phalarope. 

A subspecies of Mouse-coloured Sunbird is the endemic to Zanzibar archipelago. Other charismatic species to island including; Fischer’s Turaco, Eastern-bearded Scrub-Robin, Little Greenbul, East Coast Akalat, Greater Frigatebird and Masked Booby. 

Common birds in the island; Greater Painted Snipe, Ruff, Black-winged Stilts, Mangrove, Malachite, Striped and Pied Kingfishers. Collared, Scarlet-chested, Olive and Purple-banded Sunbird, Gull-billed, Common and Greater Crested Tern, Common Moorhen, Sacred Ibis, White-faced Whistling Duck, Egyptian Goose, African Swamphen, Red-eyed, Ring-necked,Tambourine and Emerald-Spotted Wood Dove, African paradise and Spotted Flycatcher, Bar-tailed and Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew and Common Sandpipers, Little Stint, Common Greenshank, Wood and Terek Sandpiper, Whimbrel, Heuglin’s, Sooty and Lesser Black-backed Gull. Grosbeak and African Golden, Spectacled and Forest Weaver, Common Drongo, Pied Crows, Black-Crowned night Heron, Black Heron, Dimorphic Egret, African Jacana. Lilac-breasted and Broad-billed Roller. Bronze Mannikin, Black and white Mannikin. White-browed Coucal and Green Coucal. Just to mention a few. 

At Pemba side; Four endemic species. Pemba Green Pigeon, Pemba Sunbird, Pemba white-eye and Pemba Scops Owl. Plus Common African Harrier Hawk, Brown-headed Parrots and African Pygmy Goose. While Latham Island is the breeding site for thousands and thousands of Masked Booby and Common Noddy. And the biodiversity of Mafia is similar to these other islands. Then Mafia is also sweet for birding. The quickest access to reach Mafia and Pemba is through domestic flights which runs daily. 

Birdwatching Zanzibar Tanzania (BZT) is the program runs by self employed bird expert (GWIJI LA NDEGE ZnZ) in the field that conducts regular birding around Zanzibar island and mainland Tanzania. 

Birdwatching is one of the growing recreational pastime in the world and is indeed exciting and certainly more accessible. BZT came up in different way on offering special activity to the island of Zanzibar. This activity attract lovers of nature especially students, expatriates and overseas naturalists with a kin interest in birding attending repeatedly. 

MODE OF CONDUCT
The exercise starts from 06:00am and goes up to 12:00 noon. For the half day birding and The full day birding start from 06:00am goes up to 04:00pm. Finishing time it depends with guests needs . Sometime it goes beyond the fixed time. When guests are still on needs. 

Experience Professional birder and Naturalist guide as well, Andrew’s of the jungle lead the birdwalks. The meeting point can be arranged accordingly to the guests location. Then this will be pick up and drop off after birding. 
Field essentials and facilities like binoculars, Telescope and field guide books etc are handy to come with. Though for small group of three guests a BZT can provide it. Three individuals contributes something during the Birdwatching. Though large group is also invited. Charges differ if the tour extends more outward Unguja (Zanzibar) island. It’s discussed prior to make the trip.

OVERVIEW OF THE BIRDWALKS 
With the assistance of the Bird expert; Hard core Birders, Enthusiastic Birders and Casual Birders (Ecotourists) move in set groups as per their interest, they work together in identifications of different species of birds and their characteristics for which a newcomer may fit well in the learning the identification techniques. 

In addition to the above Nature conversation experiences are shared among the participants.
