Zanzibar Butterfly Centre

The Zanzibar butterly centre is the largest enclosure of butterflies in East Africa. Situated on the East Cost of the Island the Zanzibar Butterly Centre offers visitors the opportunity to walk through the lush and green tropical gardens surrounded by many different species of butterflies. Visitors can witness every stage of the amazing life cycle of a butterfly at the centre.

Revenue generated by the Zanzibar Butterfly Centre provides funds for local proects in the form of alternative livlihoods (butterfly farmers were previously involved with deforestation activities) conservation and alleviation of poverty.
