This snorkelling adventure starts in Kizimkazi, a traditional fishing village in the south of Zanzibar. From there you will embark on a 40-minute motorboat ride out to the beautiful Pungume Sandbank where you will snorkel at 2 different reefs. When you reach Pungume Sandbank, you can fully take advantage of the surroundings by swimming and snorkelling all around this gorgeous sandbar! Pungume Island is still preserved by tourism, so the coral reefs are in good health. We chose to work with a dive centre situated in the village of Kizimkazi, with a local team sensitive to the protection of the coral reefs. For example, they are careful not to drop the anchor of the boats on the corals during the snorkelling sessions. During the activity, it is possible to visit the sandbank of Pungume Island. From here you will have a view of Pangume Island right in front of you while you enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear water. The price per person (also children from 10 years) is always US$ 55 no matter how many persons join. The price includes quality snorkelling equipment, a wetsuit (if wished) and a professional instructor, drinking water, tea, local snacks, seasonal fruits & 12% VAT. You will enjoy two 45-minute snorkelling sessions at 2 different snorkelling spots with a 45-minute break with snacks and tea in between. After your last stop, the boat will return to the dive centre in Kizimkazi.

It is possible to spot dolphins either from the boat or while snorkelling. However, please note that there is no guarantee to see them because they remain wild animals in their ocean!

The ability to swim is not necessary for this activity. You can snorkel with a life jacket, assisted by a life ring and your guide. Please inform us in advance if you cannot swim! This trip is not suitable for children below 10 years.
